‘Am I living in a way which is deeply satisfying to me, and which truly expresses me?'
‘The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.’
Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person
Why come to counselling?
Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore and reflect on issues which you find challenging. These may be ‘positive’ changes in your life which feel big or bring the need for important decisions. They may be difficult or confusing events and changes which you need to process and make sense of. You may simply be feeling ‘stuck’ or trapped and looking for ways to move on. There are many times, experiences and events in our lives - past and present - which feel challenging and you may then feel the personal and emotional impact and notice stress, anxiety, low mood, anger or struggle with confidence and your sense of identity. You may be living with ongoing effects of trauma. Counselling supports you to process your feelings and reactions to these issues, make new meanings, find new perspectives and empower you to choose new responses.
I work with the following in individuals over 18 years:
- abuse or bullying
- anxiety
- bereavement and loss
- challenging life events
- childhood experiences and their impact
- cultural and societal issues
- depression and low mood
- emotional dysregulation
- family relationship difficulties
- health conditions and their impact
- identity exploration
- life stage navigation
- low self-esteem or confidence
- relationship issues
- stress
- trauma

How counselling can help you
I offer myself as counsellor to facilitate your own process to find a more satisfying way of being, by offering a safe relationship in which you feel heard and can gain an understanding of your ‘self’ and your experiences, becoming empowered to make your own choices and changes. For those living with the legacy of trauma, I work to a structured model to provide a sense of safety and stability before processing your trauma experiences. Our relationship provides you with opportunities to explore, reflect, develop internal resources, resolve difficulties, achieve personal perspective and growth, and therefore improve your emotional and relational wellbeing.
